Anger Management
“Anybody can be angry - that is easy. But to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and for the right purpose and in the right way, that is not within everybody’s power - that is not easy.”
Aristotle. The Art of Rhetoric.
Anger is a simple emotion that we all experience in our daily lives, a natural human response to certain experiences. Equally, it can seem a complicated feeling that we may have when we do not get our needs met.
Feeling angry is a natural human response to certain life experiences, and it occurs particularly at times when we feel under attack, feel deceived, insulted or frustrated.
You may be in disagreement with partners, family or friends. You probably have triggers for your anger, this could be being stuck in traffic or watching someone jumping the queue.
Anger, if not managed can get out of hand and become destructive. Anger can cause many issues including relationship problems, guilt, despair, low self esteem, trouble at work, in society or even with the law.
If anger can not be expressed it can be turned internally, be self destructive and can lead to other problems such as anxiety and depression. As an experienced counsellor I can help you look at your anger management issues confidentially and without judgement.
We can explore:
How anger affects your relationships.
The triggers for your anger and work to understand them.
Behaviours that may be habit yet not useful.
Taking responsibility for your own anger.
Healthier ways to express yourself.
Positive change.
